FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you offer commissions?
Currently, I am not taking commissions, but they may be available in the future. I create my work organically when the emotion/desire pushes me to create. I’m currently working on several series and following a journey of self-exploration.
Can I have the artwork framed?
Absolutely. I do have framing options available for all original pieces. For the larger wood panel artwork the frame will be a floater frame. The frames are available in black, white, or natural. Floater frames ensure that the focus of the artwork is on display and the artwork appears to “float” inside the frame.
The Littles Collection arrive in an 8x10 wood frame in the color black. The cost for the frame will be separate from the cost of the artwork. If you choose to have the piece framed a separate invoice with the costs of the frame and added shipping expense will be provided.
What is Cold Wax Medium?
Cold Wax Medium is a mixture of natural beeswax (wax pastilles), Gamsol (Ordorless Mineral Spirits), and a small amount of alkyd resin. The term “cold” in Cold Wax Medium and Cold Wax Painting refers to the fact that heat is not required for working with this wax medium – as it dries by solvent evaporation (Gamsol), rather than the cooling of the wax, as in encaustic painting. As the Gamsol evaporates out of the medium, the soft wax hardens to the density of a beeswax candle.
Unlike other painting mediums, which increase the flow and gloss of oil colors to varying degrees, Cold Wax Medium makes oil colors thicker and more matte.
Do you only use oil paint?
Yes, I use only oil paint for my creations. Oil Paint is a very versatile medium that creates beautiful blended compositions, bright colors, and cohesive palettes.
What brand of oil paint do you use?
My main brand is Gamblin Artist Colors. Occasionally I will choose select colors from other manufacturers. But I prefer Gamblin for their quality, color choices, consistency, and cost.
What Size Creations do i make?
I create large format to small “Littles” on Arches Oil Paper. The large format pieces are created on wood panels, that are sealed to protect against moisture and humidity. The size of the creation will determine my direction, color choices, emotion, and final goal.
With each piece I attempt to evoke a mood, feeling, or resignation within my collectors mind.
